Interview with Bump Style – Designer Rental Boutique

Even though you're pregnant, life goes on and there are still weddings to attend and birthday parties to dance at. Investing in maternity clothes can be costly, especially just for special occasions where you're only likely to wear them once. As women we have a hard time choosing an outfit at the best of times. However, when you're pregnant and a tad vulnerable, finding a well fitted dress that makes you feel like you're Beyoncé (minus the veil) can be stressful. To help solve this problem, Lisa decided to create a business where you can rent designer maternity wear and accessories for special occasions. This clever lady started the business Bump Style so that women who are pregnant or nursing don't have to compromise on style. In this interview with Lisa, you'll learn more about her helpful service and grand plans for Bump Style.

1.Why did you create Bump Style?

I struggled to find stylish maternity for special occasions without spending a fortune.

2. How did Bump Style begin?

I started brainstorming and researching ideas while on maternity leave with my son as I didn’t want to go back to full time work and leave my son to be raised by someone else. I found it actually helped me to feel human again and more than just a robot doing the feed, play, sleep cycle.

3. How does Bump Style make mother’s lives better or brighter?

You can choose the look you like from the comfort of your couch and have it delivered to your door ready to wear.

4. How does it make you feel when a women hires a dress or accessories from you?

I was so excited when I got my very first customer and so pleased to see the picture of her looking fabulous in one of my dresses. The added bonus was her sharing how many compliments she received at her event.

5. What is your most popular dress or accessory?

So far the most popular dress rental has been the Langhem Elisa evening gown. It's a floor length lace gown in a vibrant red colour. The funny part about it, it's not even maternity, but very bump friendly.

6. What’s the most common frequently-asked-question about Bump Style?

I predict it will be how does this work. You can browse our selection of dresses and reserve your favourite look to be delivered two days before your special occasion. At the end of the rental period you place the dress in the pre-paid express post envelope and drop it in the mail. The price includes courier/postage and dry cleaning.

7. Describe one thing women would be surprised about from behind-the-scenes of Bump Style.

I hope one day to have a stylish showroom with racks of designer dresses on show, but for now they are hanging in the guest bedroom wardrobe.

8. What aspect about Bump Style do you love the most?

Finding and purchasing gorgeous dresses of course. There aren’t that many designers who specialise in maternity, so I have been looking for bump friendly designer pieces to enhance my collection.

9. When you’re not in business mode, what do you love to do?

Play with my son Finn who is about to turn one and is developing such a cheeky personality.

10. Any exciting plans for 2017?

I’m still building awareness of my brand and establishing a customer base. Once I am up and running, I hope to invest in further pieces for the collection.
