5 kid-friendly cafes for Mothers group catch-ups in Melbourne & beyond

Looking for a Melbourne café for your next Mothers group catch-up? Playcentres are great and all but when you need your good coffee fix, Melb cafés are the way to go. I’ve done the groundwork for you and used thingsforkids.com.au to find 5 places that are both Mama and kid-friendly. These have plenty of space to host a large group and things to entertain the kiddies while you drink your coffee piping-hot.

This post is kindly sponsored by things for kids and written by Motherhood Melbourne.

FYI – If these cafes aren’t in your hood, use thingsforkids.com.au to discover nearby kid-friendly places and activities. It’s an online directory that helps you explore your local area via an interactive map. Pop in your postcode and see what’s nearby.

1. Little Teapot Café | Lara

A bit further out but well worth the drive. There are two large outdoor play areas with undercover seating and another play area inside. The nappies and baby wipes in the large toilet/change room are a lovely surprise too. You can’t help but notice the exceptionally friendly staff of volunteers at this community run cafe.

Don’t have a Mum’s group? They regularly run the Teapot Mums group – a FREE 6 week Mums & Bubs morning tea.

2. Little Growling Café | Tarneit

This hidden gem backs onto a large playground that has a flying fox swing, two huuuge slides and plenty of room to enjoy your coffee outdoors. Or stay inside and tuck into their famous toasties. There’s plenty of undercover seating on the deck to host a Mother’s group catch-up

. p.s – also a great venue for kid’s birthday parties. 3. The Hungry Fox Café | Essendon Fields This one wins points for ambience. This café is nice on the eyes. Out the back they’ve got a fenced outdoor play area to keep the kiddies entertained. Even better, the food is top-notch.

Cubbyhouse Canteen – Images supplied

4. Cubbyhouse Canteen | Armadale

This café is much loved by locals. The friendly service has won over many loyal customers. Dine in or go the takeaway option and enjoy park and two playgrounds next door. Word on the street is that they have the BEST babycinos.
